‘Welsh Pride’ Neil Astley continued to find form by claiming two big wins to move up to eighth in the Welshpool Premier League Summer Darts League.

Astley first beat Rhys Butler 4-2 (throwing a 180) and then claimed another two points against Kacey Jones, 4-1, to make it seven points from his last four games to join the top eight.

Jones did grab a win on the night against Dan Hosiene, 4-1, who was punished for missed opportunities.

Butler battled to a draw with Steve Price in his second match with Price missing opportunities to win the game and hitting 3x180s in the process. He did get a win on the night over Dan Morgan, 4-0, to keep him at the top of the table.

Morgan bounced back for a draw against Hosiene in what could be a vital point to stay in contention for top 8.

Last year’s champion Gary Jones had a mixed night on the oche with a win over Jamie Cater, 4-2, followed by reversing a 3-0 deficit against Jordan Harding to claim a draw.

Harding fell short against Jamie Kynaston, 4-0, in his other game on the night. Kynaston made it a double with a 4-1 win over Rob Shingler to bump himself up to sixth. Shingler managed to keep in the race for the top 8 with a win over Haydn Jones, 4-1.

Ewan Jones cemented his place for qualification with a 4-1 win over Mitch Butler who then grabbed a draw against Cameron Williams in his other game on the night. Cater defeated Williams in his other match.

The league comes into its last three weeks with players fighting for a top 8 finish to be in with the chance to be crowned this year's champion.
