Welshpool host league leaders

11/10/2025 @ 07:54

North Wales Division One leaders, Pwllheli, visit Maesydre today (1.30pm) with hosts Welshpool looking to pick themselves up following a disastrous start to life in the top division, writes Gary Williams.

But Pool can expect another tough afternoon. Despite eventually losing heavily at Bala on their last outing, the team stemmed the flow of points in the second half with a committed, defensive performance.

Whilst there will not be many expecting Pool to topple their visitors, the coaching team will be looking for improved performances week on week as they try to adapt to the power and pace of this division.

Elsewhere in Division One, COBRA, on the back of three consecutive wins, will be confident of getting points from their visit to Wrexham.

After losing their first game away to everybody’s favourites for the title, Nant Conwy, the Meifod men, sitting in fifth, haven’t lost and are well capable of maintaining this great run of form.

Division Two leaders, Newtown, the only side with a perfect record after three games, will be expecting to pick up points as they travel to bottom club Denbigh.

Llanidloes host Abergele and, with both sides struggling to get points on the board with disappointing starts, it’s the perfect opportunity for one of them to jump a couple of places with the winning points. This could be a close one with home advantage just winning the day.

Machynlleth, another side with three wins out of three, take on Bro Ffestiniog who are yet to pick up a point. However, the visitors have lost their two games by very narrow margins and Mach will have to be at their best to pick up more valuable league points.

In Division Three North East Wales, COBRA 2nds are without a league game as their opponents, Dinbych 2nds, have called off. However, Aberystwyth 2nds have agreed to travel to Meifod for a friendly fixture.

On Sunday, COBRA Ladies travel to Abergele in the North Wales Women’s League.
