Welshpool Rugby Club can hold their heads up high following a season that saw them come agonisingly close to a tremendous double.
The side came within a whisker of gaining promotion to Division One North, settling for third, but travelled to Colwyn Bay on Sunday with a large army of support hoping to finish with some silverware.
But it wasn’t to be, despite winning all of their League Cup group matches to reach the final, Welshpool faced a Colwyn Bay side who made the most of home advantage.
The hosts raced into a 21-0 half time lead, and despite a stronger second half showing with a spirited fightback, Welshpool fell to a 38-26 defeat.
