Several local businesses are in the running to win what is known as a ‘Rural Oscar’ at the Welsh finals of the 2024 Countryside Alliance Awards.
Businesses in Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Llanymynech and Montgomery are all included on the shortlists, with voting now open.
The Awards celebrate British food & farming, enterprise and heritage through small hard-working businesses and are now in their 17th year.
Montgomeryshire MP Craig Williams has championed the awards and welcomed the strong local flavour to the finalists.
“The Countryside Alliance Awards celebrate those businesses that go the extra mile and are the cornerstone of our rural communities. It is fantastic therefore to have these five amazing Montgomeryshire businesses named as Welsh regional finalists for this year’s Awards.
“It would be brilliant to bring a Rural Oscar back to Montgomeryshire, so let’s all get voting and champion their success!”

The winners for the Wales regional awards will be announced at the Senedd on February 27, where they will then go forward to compete against winners from across the UK in the grand final.
