Welshpool Library celebrated St Dwynwen’s Day, the Welsh Patron Saint of Love, by encouraging visitors to make a ‘Blind Date with a Book’.
Library staff are encouraging people to choose specially wrapped books showing no indication of what they are getting except for a brief but tempting outline of the story plot (pictured).
Cllr Graham Brown, Cabinet Member for Library Services, said: “It’s so easy to just keep reading the same type of books and not try something new especially when there are so many other genres to choose from.
“People may be used to historical novels or thrillers but have never tried reading a romance, even a classic novel or a detective story and any of the other categories we have available.
“We want to shake it up a bit by getting people out of their reading ‘comfort zones’ and to try something new and different to widen their reading experience - this is a fun way to try that.”
The initiative will run through to St Valentine’s Day.
