Llanfyllin Town Council has confirmed that Cllr Andrew Griffin has been elected as the town’s Mayor for the next year.

Cllr Griffin has served on the Town Council for a couple of years and will bring valuable prior experience in community volunteering to the role.

He also has longstanding links with the Royal British Legion, and during his mayoral year has chosen to support Dementia UK and the Royal British Legion as his nominated charities.

Cllr S. Cowham will be his deputy, bringing dedication and a fresh perspective to the role, and the council said that his support will be a “great asset to the council’s leadership team”.

Outgoing Mayor, Cllr Peter Lewis, said: “It has been an honour to serve as Mayor of Llanfyllin. I am proud of what we have achieved together over the past year - from supporting local events to working on key infrastructure and community projects.

“I have every confidence that Councillors Griffin and Cowham will continue to serve our town with dedication, energy, and care. I wish them both every success in their new roles.”
