Welshpool rally ace James Watkins and his new co-driver, 17 year old Siobhan Pugh, took their Makefast based Nissan Micra 1,000cc to a class win and 35th overall in the Rally Marketing Mid Wales Stages Rally in the forests of Mid Wales on Sunday.
The event organised by Newtown and District Automobile Club was the crew's first event together and only their fourth ever rally.
"We had a brilliant event and the stages were superb," said 21 year old Watkins. "The only drama came at the end of the Sweet Lamb stage when the front brakes caught fire.
"Siobhan and I got on really well together and we are now looking forward to our next event, which is the Welshpool based Bulldog Rally of North Wales," said Watkins.
